About Healey St
Healey St is the third album released by Healey St. It consists of the same musical formula of the previous albums - eight songs, two cover songs and six originals. This album is a little more personal then the previous two. In the past I might have referred too or spun around topics and people. Some of the songs will seem more direct on subject. The album begins with:

Sound Check-When I used to play in a band many a moon ago, we would do a type of improvisation similar to this for a sound check. Sometimes something would click and everything would flow, it would feel like everyone was connected. It's hard to explain, if you've ever played sports or been a part of a team it would be similar but not the same. More about the joy of sharing and achieving something that feels good.

Garden Party-A little history about the song, it was written and performed by Ricky Nelson. If you don't know who Ricky Nelson was, he was a heartthrob from the 50's. The song is about a gig he did back in the 70's, the story goes that he and his band started playing new material and they were booed off the stage. They came back on and finished with some old favorites, but it taught him a valuable lesson and he got a hit song. "You can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself." Words to live by.

JFK-I subconsciously wrote this song about my father. The idea behind the song is: what was he thinking of when he was picked up at the airport after immigrating here?
GreyHound-Greyhound was a bus company from back in the good old days. The song is about my mom.

Mickey-The original lyrics for this song were a little more guarded, I was prodded into writing something closer to my heart by my wife. The song is about becoming an adult and taking on your responsibilities.

Billy and Elaine-I wrote this song at the beach, when we were on holiday. It consists of just two acoustic guitars, one playing a melody the other improvising off that melody. While I was playing it, I imagined two people dancing.

Ring of Fire-I picked this song as a cover, mainly because it is a campfire song we would sing at the beach and how it would connect with Billy and Elaine. It has an interesting backstory, most people don't realize that it was written by June Carter and Merle Kilgore. It was inspired by an 18th century poem that June had found at her Uncle's house. Rumour is the song is about June and Johnny's relationship, at the time they were working together and touring Johnny Cash was a married man with children.

Wycoff-This was the last live gig that I played, right before the Pandemic started. I tried to paint a picture of what it's like playing at a live event, for me. Its something that's unique to performers, we all have our own routines before and after.
