About Crossroads

Crossroads is the fifth album released by Healey St. The music formula for this project is slightly different from the previous albums. There are eight songs, two cover songs and six originals but of the six originals three are instrumentals. This album is about how all of us make different decisions in life, both good and bad. How as human beings we hide behind our own self created masks, that some of us never see. Some live in despair with the anxiety of never being able to show any kind of weakness or what we fear to be viewed as weakness. "I'm fine!!", meanwhile the world is crashing around us. So what do you do?

The album begins with:

Crossroads- Originally written by Robert Johnson, I think everyone knows the legend of the Devil and Mr. Johnson, so I won't talk about that. Let's talk a little about the lyrics of this song. The author is asking for help from God, from his friends and even passing strangers but no one is willing to help. What would he need help with? Could be addiction, could be racism (This song was written in the 30's and Robert Johnson lived in the south); he needs to get off the road quickly before he is caught, could be he just needs to find a direction for his life . He's at the crossroads of a decision, I believe Johnson was using a metaphor. The lyrics I'm using here are the lyrics Clapton adapted for the version he did with Cream. In both versions in the last verse he says he believes he is sinking down.

Black Magic Woman- Originally written by Peter Green when he was with Fleetwood Mac, the popular version is done by Santana. What I love about Green's version: you can jam on it.

Para Gloria Soares- For my mom.

Nothing to Say- This is about the despair of not being heard or valued.

Para Edith- For my sister.

Everytime I Say Goodbye- There might not be a next time.

Para Jose PaiviaFor my father.

Everybody Struggles- We all hide how we feel inside.

About Healey St

Healey St is a musical project, based out of the Northeastern United States. It has been a work in progress since the 1970's. It was a crossroad in my life and like several other crossroads, it had opportunity to change and grow or shrink and disappear. It was a tough place to live and offered plenty of chances to learn life’s lessons. I thought it appropriate to name this project after it.

Initially the music you will hear from Healey St will be a classic rock kind of vibe like Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Eagles and The Beatles. With the potential of working with other artists, I am sure the sound will evolve. Currently, all the instruments and mixings are just little old me.
